Profile

Michael’s personal style comes from developing a unique series of technical processes, which have enabled him to make highly distinctive coloured panels and forms.

Michael’s present work reflects his preoccupation with the sea and myth. The sculptural pieces and vessels provide a canvas to explore the areas where land and sea meet. These places of restless energy and yet great tranquillity inform his use of colour, texture and light.

The Mark making and patterns I use in my work aim to reflect behaviour and emotional responses through the interplay of colour light and form.  The glass object becomes a lens for viewing what is on the other side as well as within the work.

Michael’s work is in the National Museum of Irelands Glass collection, The Crafts Council’s National Collection and the Department of Foreign affairs, as well as numerous private and corporate collections.

I am running glass fusing workshops

glass powder and combining printed images and/or text during the two day workshop.
